1. Design Rationale

Creating these cartoon fridge magnets not only reflects my love for Arcane and these characters but also materializes the character images into everyday decorative items, allowing me to showcase my fan identity to others. Fridge magnets are items displayed at home, which means my fan identity will be visible to everyone who visits my home. When visitors or other fans see these fridge magnets, it's like a signal indicating my fan identity, making it easier for me to connect with like-minded fans.

 

If I had to choose one item to represent the core of the entire story, I would choose the Hextech crystal. In the world of Arcane, Hextech represents the fusion of magic and technology, and owning Hextech is both a symbol of power and superiority. The complex relationship between Piltover and Zaun, where the conflict and story can be traced back to the origins of Hextech. Creating this necklace is not only a tribute to the Arcane universe but also a materialization of my understanding and emotional connection to the work. Unlike the fridge magnets, the necklace is something worn when going out, and the audience is mostly strangers. Wearing a necklace associated with fan identity allows me to display my fandom outside and convey my love for Arcane. Wearing a necklace that showcases my fan identity also allows me to quickly identify others with the same fandom, making it easier and faster to gain a sense of belonging.
